International Conference on Entrepreneurship and Investment in Africa Launches at Cairo University
Cairo University today, May 25, 2025, marks the launch of the "International Conference on Entrepreneurship and Investment Opportunities in Africa." The two-day event, continuing through May 26th, is a significant gathering aimed at exploring and enhancing the economic landscape of the African continent. The conference is titled "Investment in Africa: Entrepreneurship Opportunities and Challenges of Regional and International Competition."
Focusing on Africa's Economic Future
Hosted by the Faculty of African Graduate Studies at Cairo University, the conference convenes at the faculty's Grand Conference Hall. Its primary objectives are to activate the role of think tanks in supporting public policies related to economic development in Africa and to open strategic dialogues on mechanisms for sustainable investment and the promotion of entrepreneurship across the continent. It serves as a vital platform for exchanging experiences, exploring opportunities, analyzing risks, and developing scientific visions that contribute to building national and continental strategies for attracting investment and fostering entrepreneurship on sustainable and equitable foundations.
Key Themes and Strategic Dialogues
The conference agenda is rich with strategic discussions, attracting over 150 experts, academics, and diplomats from Egypt and 17 other African and Arab countries. Key themes include attracting foreign investment, stimulating innovation, expanding green entrepreneurship, addressing financing challenges, and assessing the impact of climate change and regional conflicts on the investment climate.
Parallel sessions will delve into specific topics such as the prospects for renewable energy in Africa, the role of agricultural value chains in stimulating development, the effects of international policies on economic stability, experiences of women's entrepreneurship, investment in artificial intelligence and infrastructure, and international competition in vital areas like the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa.

The conference is held under the patronage of distinguished figures including Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, President of Cairo University. Key organizers include Prof. Dr. Attia El Tantawy, Dean of the Faculty of African Graduate Studies and Conference President, alongside Prof. Dr. Sally Farid and Prof. Dr. El Sayed Fleifel as Scientific Rapporteurs.
